On Tuesday, December 19, Alhaji Umaru Buba Nyala, the second-class chief of Pupule chiefdom in Yorro LGA of Taraba state, fell victim to a kidnapping along with 21 of his subjects.
The kidnappers, believed to reside in the surrounding mountains of the town, carried out the abduction.
A resident of Pupule, speaking on the condition of anonymity, shared details of the incident, stating, “The kidnappers situated in the hills surrounding us invaded the town and kidnapped 22 people, including the second-class chief of Pupule, Alhaji Umaru Buba Nyala.”

The police spokesman in Taraba, Abdullahi Usman, confirmed the kidnapping, indicating that 15 persons, including two police officers (a sergeant and an inspector), were abducted. He further revealed that a combined security team, comprising the strike force, vigilante groups, and hunters, is actively engaged in the search for the kidnappers and the rescue of the victims.
