Reactions trail EndSARS panel report

Entertainers Folarin Falana, aka Falz; Disc Jockey Catherine, Udeh, aka DJ Switch and Timi Dakolo have reacted to the report by the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for Victims of SARS Related Abuses and other matters.

The report submitted by the panel to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday indicated that at least nine persons were confirmed killed at the Lekki toll plaza on the night soldiers disperse #EndSARS protesters on October 20, 2020.

The panel claimed the incident was a massacre whilst indicting soldiers and implicating Nigeria’s security agents in the killing.

Titled, ‘Report of Lekki Incident Investigation Of 20th October 2020’, the report concluded that at least 48 protesters were either shot dead, injured with bullet wounds, or assaulted by soldiers.

Among the 48, about 20 sustained gunshot injuries, while 13 others were assaulted by the military.

Sanwo-Olu said it is the beginning of the “difficult process of proper reconciliation and restitution.”

However, taking to his verified Instagram page, Falz who was prominent in the protest, described those who initially denied the killing as ‘Animals’.

“These animals legit made us doubt our sanity about the Lekki Massacre you know. Panel don compile their report na. We gather dey!!,” he said.

Likewise, DJ Switch who gained more prominence last year when she took to her Instagram page for a live coverage of the massacre said via her Instagram page, “Shattered so many lives, tried to destroy mine. Only for what you desperately tried to hide to be made public… by you! The truth needs no defense! #EndSARS.”

Dakolo also questioned what will be the next line of action after the findings by the panel.

“Now that the panel is done with its findings and has declared it a massacre, what next? What next? What next? #Endsars,” he said.
