Kano lawmaker spends N3bn on roads, other projects 


About N3 billion had been spent by a federal lawmaker on the execution of 50 capital projects which include roads and classrooms across different parts of Tarauni constituency of Kano State.

Member representing Tarauni Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hafiz Kawu disclosed this in Kano at a news conference on Sunday.

He said that about N1.6 billion was spent on the construction of about 3 Kilometres dual carriage way from AKTH junction to Court road and N1.3 billion on the construction of AKTH to Karkasara Damanawa – Yankato road dual carriage ways.

Rep Kawu said the projects had greatly enhanced socio economic development in the metropolis.

”We have succeeded in executing classrooms in all the existing primary schools in the eleven wards and equipped them with furniture to enhance learning environment,” he added.


In the same vein, Kawu stated that he had assisted no fewer than 200 students of tertiary institutions with their registration fees in the last three years.

The lawmaker  further disclosed that he had constructed several boreholes in all the 11 wards for human and animal consumption.

Kawu noted that the gesture is aimed at boosting the supply of adequate drinkable water to the people.

He promised to sustain the efforts, to further alleviate the suffering of his constituents.

The lawmaker then called on residents who had earlier registered and yet to collect their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs to do so at the wards level to enable them participate actively in the electoral process.

He also called on the people to shun political violence and thuggery during the ongoing electioneering campaigns.
