The Federal Government has taken delivery of medical supplies donated by Chinese billionaire, Jack Ma to help combat coronavirus in Nigeria.
The shipment, which came in via an Ethiopian Airlines flight, carried 5.4 million face masks, 1.08 million detection tests, 40,000 sets of protective clothing and 60,000 sets of protective face shields.
Officials of the Federal Ministry of Health and Nigerian Airforce personnel were on hand to receive the consignment at the NAHCO section of the Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The goods were airlifted to Abuja by an Hercules 130 military plane shortly after 9.30pm.
Latest reports indicate that Nigeria has registered 44 cases of Covid-19 with only one fatality. Two contacts have been treated and discharged while 41 are under watch.
