Buhari takes tougher steps, shuts land borders


President Muhammadu Buhari has approved closure of Nigeria’s land borders for four months as part of further measures to combat coronavirus.

Other measures are suspension of the Federal Executive Council, the postponement of the National Council of States meeting slated for Thursday, mobilisation of national assets if necessary, continuous engagement of state governments,acquisition of more testing kits and setting up of more testing centres.

Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, Boss Mustapha said the Head of Service will issue a circular on possible restrictions on the work schedule among federal civil servants.

The Minister of Health, Prof.  Osagie Ehanire said new testing centres will soon open in Maiduguri, Ibadan, Abakaliki and Kano.
