President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Prof. Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei as the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Professor Pondei is to take over from the present Acting Managing Director, Barrister Joy Nunieh.
The president also increased the number of interim committee members from three to five. They are Dr Cairo Ojougboh, executive director (Projects); Mr Ibanga Bassey Etang, executive director (Finance and Administration); Mrs Caroline Nagbo (member) and Cecilia Bukola Akintomide, a former Vice President with African Development Bank (member).
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said: “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the enlargement of the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission from three to five. The new acting managing director is a professor of medicine at the Niger Delta University, and former provost, College of Health Sciences of the institution.’’
The interim management committee would be in place till the forensic audit of the NDDC is concluded.
President Buhari had, in October, 2019, ordered a forensic audit of the operations of NDDC from 2001 to 2019, following persistent criticisms of its operations.
