Political realignments ahead 2023 have started in the two major political parties, the All Peoples Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP.
The APC will likely annul the outcome of its ward congress held on Saturday to pave way for new party managers even as the PDP is shopping for a new party chairman.
Latest reports said seven national officers of the Peoples Democratic Party have resigned in a bid to force out its chairman, Uche Secondus.
The party chieftains in different letters addressed to the National Secretary of the party on Tuesday alleged being sidelined and unfairly treated by the National Chairman, Uche Secondus
Sources said the days of Secondus are few as pressure mounts on him to resign or be removed.
The leadership of the party is currently meeting in an emergency meeting over the lingering crises of confidence in the party.
Several members of the party’s National Working Committee have reportedly resigned from their offices alleging that Secondus has been high-handed in handling the affairs of the party.
In a press conference earlier in the day, the National Youth Leader of the party, Hon Ude Okoye had threatened to resign if the National Chairman does not resign.
Hon. Okoye alleged that Secondus “lacks the intellectual capacity to administer the party.”
Members of the National Working Committee who reportedly turned in their resignation letters include, the Deputy National Financial Secretary, Deputy Legal Adviser, Deputy National Auditor, Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Deputy Women Leader, and Deputy Organising Secretary.
There is yet no firm confirmation of these developments.
