The governor had earlier asked the groups to give him three weeks to consult widely on whether to contest the presidency or not.

However, after the expiration of the three weeks, Mohammed sought for another three weeks to make a final decision.

On Thursday, he said he needed more time.

“Already my friends have urged to me run; my family members are on the same line. My Party, the PDP, in the state, has also urged me to run. We are in the process of consultation. When you came the other time, I told you that we had had to go and consult. Consultation again that is why we have taken so long I must apologise because of the expense of my constituencies.”

Mohammed thanked the coalition for finding him suitable for the exalted position, adding that it was not the first such call was made by them on him to contest.
