The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has called off its prolonged strike sequel to several and frequent meetings with the Federal Government representatives, led by the Minister for Education, Adamu Adamu.
One of the fall-outs of these meetings is the approval of N50 billion, shared as N30 billion for the lecturers’ finances and emoluments and N20 billion for revitalizing the universities.
ASUU has agreed that all federal universities should resume and proper lectures begin.
Nevertheless, the government had instructed that the COVID-19 safety measures be carried out appropriately to prevent a spike in infections.
The date fixed for resumption is October 19, 2020.
