Tony Elumelu, the Chairman of UBA Group has signed the agreement of UBA’s full banking operations in France in the attendance of Tinubu and Emmanuel Macro, the President of France.
The banking group stated in a late Thursday announcement that the landmark business cooperation agreement with French Finance Minister Antoine Armand was part of President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to France.
During the signing ceremony, Elumelu stated: “This partnership strengthens our dedication to providing seamless international banking services for our customers, not only across the 11 Francophone African countries we serve but also for Africa as a whole and for French and European customers engaging with Africa.
“Expanding into France is a natural step for us, with Paris acting as our hub within the European Union as we strive to connect Africa and the world through innovative financial solutions. Paris will become part of our unique global network alongside London, New York, and Dubai.”
With this agreement, UBA aligns itself with tier-1 banks in Nigeria, establishing a banking presence in France.

Recall that Tinubu arrived in France on Thursday for a two-day state visit aimed at strengthening economic and diplomatic ties between the two countries. This marks the first official state visit to Paris by a Nigerian leader in more than twenty years.
Macron welcomed his counterpart with a warm greeting in Nigerian Pidgin English, stressing the cultural connection between the two leaders.
“Na big honour for France to welcome you for dis state visit,” he wrote on social media.
