Tragedy struck on Monday night when a boat capsized along the Bennett Island River in the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident left five people dead, while six others sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment. According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, a total of 19 people were rescued from the scene, but one person remains missing.

Reports indicate that the boats capsized after striking a submerged log, which contributed to the disaster. Many passengers were reportedly not wearing life jackets at the time of the accident.
