Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stalwart in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu regained freedom early Tuesday morning after being invited and questioned by the Department of State Services, DSS.
His release was confirmed by his media aide Afolabi Orekoya, The confirmation of his arrest had earlier been made by the PDP’s Ogun State Publicity Secretary, Kayode Adebayo, following an announcement by the Ogun State DSS command in Abeokuta on Monday.
Adebutu, who was the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State in the 2023 election, was reportedly invited for questioning over his alleged involvement in a disturbance during the local government elections held on Saturday.

Credible News recall that the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Kayode Adebayo, on Monday disclosed that Adebutu, has been detained by operatives of the Department of State Services.
In a statement sent to journalists by Adebayo, he stated, “We inform members of our esteemed party, the Peoples Democratic Party, that our leader has indeed been detained by the DSS on charges that have yet to be disclosed. However, our principal has urged calm and reassured party members, supporters, and well-wishers that this is a challenge that will pass, and it is part of the price we pay for democracy”.
The statement continued, “Efforts to secure his release, either on personal recognizance or through a surety, were unsuccessful as of 10 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024. His lawyers have been informed and will address the matter by Tuesday morning. We wish to keep our people and the public fully informed about his whereabouts and urge everyone to remain calm and peaceful until this issue is resolved.”
