Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has offered immediate employment to Sham’unu Ishaq, a first-class graduate of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University who was discovered selling sachet water
This was announced in a statement by the governor’s chief press secretary, Ibrahim Kaula, in Katsina on Friday.
A video of Mr Ishaq has been going around on social media, depicting that he sells pure water to support his family.
The viral video showed Ishaq, who had graduated with a First Class degree in B.Sc (Ed.) Education/Biology in the 2021/2022 academic session, resorting to selling pure water after completing his National Youth Service Corps programme in Taraba State. The video sparked public concern, prompting Governor Radda to act swiftly. Upon hearing about Ishaq’s situation, the governor instructed his Special Assistant on Students’ Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Nagaske, to verify the authenticity of the video.
The investigation confirmed the accuracy of the video, and it was revealed that Ishaq had indeed graduated with top honors.
Kaula emphasized that the governor’s intervention reflects his administration’s commitment to rewarding academic excellence and ensuring that talented individuals are not overlooked due to financial constraints.
