Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, has passed away following a brief illness, as confirmed on Tuesday by Chief Registrar Olanike Adegoke.
In a statement released by the judiciary’s Public Relations Officer, Michael Oba, Adegoke expressed deep sorrow and described Justice Adeyeye as a dedicated jurist and a beacon of fairness, equity, and justice in Ekiti State.

Justice Adeyeye, who was born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, Ekiti East Local Government Area, brought a wealth of experience to the bench. Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986, he served in various judicial capacities before being appointed as Ekiti State’s Chief Judge in October 2021. His tenure was marked by a commitment to judicial reform and integrity, which earned him great respect within the legal community and among the people of Ekiti State.
The judiciary mourns the loss of Justice Adeyeye, with Chief Registrar Adegoke noting that his contributions to the judiciary and the state were “immeasurable” and that his legacy will be felt for years to come.
