Credible News recalls that the Edo State Government had officially reached out to Senator Monday Okpebholo, urging him to form his transition team as part of the process to ensure a smooth transfer of power.
The letter, dated October 10, 2024, was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Joseph Eboigbe. In the communication, Eboigbe emphasized the importance of collaboration between the incoming and outgoing administrations, stating that establishing the transition team would enable both sides to engage in meaningful discussions and share key information. This would help guarantee a seamless transfer of responsibilities and governance continuity.
Eboigbe reminded that Governor Godwin Obaseki had, in July, inaugurated a 20-member transition committee to oversee the process, chaired by Eboigbe himself. The letter to Okpebholo reads: “To facilitate this process, we invite you and your party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, to initiate the formation of your transition team at your earliest convenience.”
The inaugural meeting of the two transition committees is scheduled for October 14. The letter was reportedly received by Mr. Joy Oyere, an admin secretary at the APC’s Edo State Chapter, but no formal response has been issued yet.
The APC has expressed confidence that the committee will ensure a smooth and effective transition in the state.
