In a significant step towards advancing education and human development, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has inaugurated the Governing Council and Board of Trustees for his privately owned Ojaja University, located in Eiyenkorin, Ilorin, Kwara State.
During the ceremony held at the Ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife, the monarch highlighted his commitment to fostering innovation and global excellence through the university. He emphasized that Ojaja University is a legacy project aimed at producing students who are not only academically sound but also moral and forward-thinking innovators. “This institution is not about financial gain, but about creating a sustainable structure for shaping global innovators,” the Ooni remarked.
Key appointments to the university’s leadership include Professor Lere Baale, who will serve as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, and Engineer Yusuf Olanrewaju Sagaya, as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The university’s leadership also boasts an impressive array of professionals, including the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jeleel Ojuade, and several notable figures from academia, law, and business.

The newly inaugurated Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ojuade, expressed optimism about the future of Ojaja University, noting that the selection of individuals for the Governing Council and Board of Trustees reflects a commitment to excellence. He praised the appointed members for their distinguished careers and dedication, affirming that they will contribute significantly to the university’s mission of creating globally impactful graduates.

Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ọjájá II, CFR born 17th October, 1974 is the 51st and current Ooni of Ife. He is the traditional ruler and monarch of the Yoruba kingdom of Ile-Ife. He ascended to the throne after the passing of Oba Okunade Sijuwade in August 2015.
