A third-year medical student at the University of Lagos, UNILAG, identified as Williams has been found dead just a day before the commencement of the school’s examination.
The Provost of the College of Medicine, Professor David Oke, disclosed that the student may have taken his own life due to the overwhelming pressure of the upcoming exams. This suspicion arose after some of Williams’ colleagues reported that he had shared a cryptic message, including a final “goodbye,” before being found deceased.
Professor Oke also stated that the university management plans to perform an autopsy following a meeting with Williams’ family scheduled for Monday. In an official message to the student body, the Association of Medical Students at UNILAG expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their fellow student from the Genezens class. The statement urged students to support one another through this challenging time and to keep Williams and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
