Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has taken a significant step towards enhancing the state’s infrastructure by signing two key Memorandums of Understanding, MoUs, with the China Civil Engineering Construction Company, CCECC, in Beijing, China.
The first MoU focuses on the development of the Lekki-Epe Link Bridge, a crucial project under the state’s Strategic Transport Masterplan. This initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion and foster economic growth by enhancing connectivity within the Lekki-Epe axis.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the project is a testament to the administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Lagosians by ensuring better roads and transport infrastructure. The project is set to move forward with CCECC, which has already conducted feasibility and design studies.
In addition to the road infrastructure, the Governor who is in China with President Bola Tinubu, also signed a second MoU to introduce solar power systems across key tertiary institutions in Lagos State. This initiative will bring sustainable energy solutions to institutions such as Lagos State University, Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Lagos State University of Education, and Lagos State College of Medicine.
These agreements mark a significant milestone in efforts to drive growth and improve the quality of life for citizens of the state.
Credible News reports that on Tuesday in Beijing, President Bola Tinubu and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, announced the elevation of Nigeria-China ties to that of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The leaders also agreed to build a high-level Nigeria-China community with a shared future.
During the meeting, both presidents witnessed the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding, MoUs, on various areas of mutual interest, including those on cooperation plan between Nigeria and China on jointly promoting the Belt and Road Initiative.
They also witnessed the memorandum of understanding signed on cooperation in the peaceful application of nuclear energy and strengthening cooperation on human resource development under the Global Development Initiative.
Others include an MoU on Media Exchange and Cooperation as well as an MoU between China Media Group and the Nigerian Television Authority.
