President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to the Yar’Adua family following the passing of Hajiya Aya Dada, the mother of late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and the late General Shehu Yar’Adua.
The revered matriarch, who died at 101 on Monday at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina, leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and integrity.
In a statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu commended Hajiya Dada’s enduring impact on the many lives she touched, offering prayers for the peaceful repose of her soul. He also extended his sympathies to Sen. Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, who is a senator representing the Katsina Central Senatorial District, the people of Katsina State, and the countless others who were blessed by her presence.

Hajiya Dada was the wife of the late Musa Yar’Adua, a key figure during Nigeria’s First Republic, and the mother of late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, a Nigerian Army General who served as the de facto vice president of Nigeria as Chief of Staff, Supreme Headquarters during the military rule from 1976 to 1979.
Her passing has drawn thousands of mourners from across the nation to her residence in Katsina, underscoring the deep respect and affection she commanded.
