The Akwa Ibom State Police Command announced on Monday that it had arrested six suspected drug dealers and cultists during a raid on a criminal hideout in the Afaha Offiong community of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Timfon John, revealed in a statement on Monday that all the suspects arrested were male.
John noted that the successful operation was the result of efforts by police operatives mobilized by the Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, following an intelligence report about illicit activities in the community. The suspects apprehended were identified as Kufre Godwin Okon, Uko Monday Edet, Cyril Michael, Gabriel Effiong, Joseph Effiong Okon, and Udofia Emmanuel Udofia.

“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, in its ongoing efforts to make the state safe, secure, and uncomfortable for criminals, has raided a criminal hideout in Afaha Offiong community in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area,” John stated. She added that the raid was carried out by operatives acting on directives from CP Waheed Ayilara, based on intelligence reports about nefarious activities in the area. The police also recovered two bags containing substances suspected to be Indian hemp, cocaine, and some cocktail concoctions during the operation.
John mentioned that an investigation is ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate who managed to flee during the raid. Meanwhile, CP Waheed Ayilara reassured the people of Akwa Ibom of the command’s unwavering commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements.
CP Waheed Ayilara urged them to always report any suspicious movement or suspicious persons to the nearest police station, as this will help the police cultivate and act on the information towards keeping the state safe and secure.
