In a pool of over 1.8 million candidates where only 8,401 achieved a score of 300 and above in the recently held Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, one standout individual defies the odds, as Olukayode Victor Olusola from Omu-Aran, Kwara State, shines brightly amidst the statistics with an exceptional score of 362.

Victor, who was born in 2009 is just 15 years old and intends to study Electrical Electronics Engineering at the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria.

Though the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof. Isaq Oloyede, organisers of the exam, had said the Board would not announce the highest scorer to avoid last year’s experience of confusing claims, Olukayode’s score is celebratory, as it is among the highest in recent years.

The breakdown of his results indicated that Victor scored 95 each in three subjects; Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry while he had 77 in English Language.

Victor’s mother, Mrs Beatrice Tosin Olukayode, while appreciating God attributed Victor’s outstanding performance to his studious and hardworking nature.

Olukayode’s excellent performance is coming at a time of dwindling confidence in public school academic offerings.
