Unilorin VC, Egbewole congratulates Christian community at Easter

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole has  extended his congratulations to the Christian community on the occasion of Easter, describing it as an enduring lesson for humanity.

In a statement released in Ilorin by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, Egbewole emphasized the importance of expressing gratitude to the Almighty for preserving the lives of members of the university community to witness the 2024 Easter celebrations.

He also noted that the celebrations, occurring concurrently with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, serve as a valuable lesson for all. He added that the celebrations, which coincided with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, is a lesson.

The vice-chancellor said the lesson was in unity and fraternity not only for the adherents of Islam and Christianity but also to the entire human community.

“Human beings are one and the same people created by the Almighty God for the purpose of extolling His greatness,” he said.

Egbewole said the human community, particularly Christians, must always reflect on the enduring attributes of Jesus Christ.

”His experience before, during and after his crucifixion more than 2,000 years ago laid the foundation of the celebrations.”

Egbewole  further encouraged everyone to follow the example of Jesus Christ by demonstrating honesty, humility, simplicity, piety, generosity, sacrifice, and perseverance in both their personal and public lives. He emphasized that embodying these virtues is not only essential for fostering peace within the nation but also for promoting rapid development.

Furthermore, Egbewole pledged to uphold fairness and equality for all members of the University of Ilorin community, regardless of their region, tribe, or faith. He affirmed his commitment to treating everyone with impartiality and without discrimination.
