Nollywood star, Muonagor seeks support for kidney transplant in India

Nollywood actor, Kingsley Orji is seeking financial support to enable a fellow actor Amaechi Muonagor undergo a kidney transplant in India.

Orji took to his Instagram account on Sunday to raise awareness about Muonagor’s situation, revealing that he had been forced to leave the hospital due to financial limitations.

He emphasized the adverse effects of Muonagor’s illnesses, noting their impact on his speech and general well-being.

Orji implored fans and well-wishers to contribute towards the cost of the much-needed transplant surgery.

Orji who spoke in both Igbo and English said “It has not been easy. He has been in this condition for months now. He wants to go for a kidney transplant. What we want is for you to help us for him to travel to India.

“He just came back from the ICU in Nnewi Teaching Hospital a couple of days ago. He was responding to treatment but not very well.

“We decided to bring him home because there was no money but it is not advisable. He barely talks well. Please, he needs your help.”

The exact amount needed for the transplant surgery was not disclosed, but Orji provided Amaechi’s bank details and contact information for those willing to contribute.

In November 2023, Tony Muonagor, Amaechi’s cousin, disclosed that the actor was battling a trifecta of health challenges: kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke.

His condition had worsened, necessitating regular dialysis sessions and physiotherapy at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, Anambra.
