Fire ravages Ekiti Deputy Governor’s lodge, millions of property lost (photos)

A blaze erupted at the official lodge of the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Monisade Christiana Afuye, destroying property valued at millions of naira.

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, through its official X handle, shared images from the scene on Monday, March 4, stating: “following an alert regarding a fire incident at approximately 2:30 am on Monday, March 4, 2024, officials from the Ekiti Operations Office and Ekiti SEMA conducted an assessment of the lodge to gauge the extent of the damage caused by the fire.”

NEMA and the Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency have, however, assessed the situation to ascertain the cause and extent of the damage caused by the fire.

However, it could not be confirmed whether the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Afuye, was at the lodge when the fire broke out.
“It was suspected that the fire occurred as a result of the power surge. Many properties have been destroyed by the fire incident.”
