The Senate has officially confirmed the appointment of Dr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi as the Managing Director of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency ,FERMA.
The confirmation follows the adoption of the report by the Senate Committee on FERMA at the Committee of the Whole on Tuesday.
President Tinubu had sent a request to the Senate on November 1st, seeking the confirmation of Dr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi and nine other individuals as Managing Director and Members of the FERMA Board. The request was made in accordance with the provisions of Section 2(3) of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency Act, 2007.
The Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Hussaini Uba, presented the report and urged the Senate to consider the President’s request for the confirmation of Dr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, in line with Section 2(1)(2) of the FERMA Act 2002.
In addition to confirming Dr. Agbasi as the Managing Director, the Senate also approved the appointment of nine other individuals as members of the FERMA Board. The newly confirmed members are Mr. Ibi Manasseh, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, Sen. Timothy Aduda, Mr. Babatunde Daramola, Mr. Preye Oseke, Mr. Aminu Papa, Mr. Abubakar Bappa, Mr. Shehu Mohammed, and Mr. Yusuf Othman.
This confirmation marks a significant step in ensuring the effective leadership and management of FERMA, a crucial agency responsible for maintaining and rehabilitating federal roads across the country.
