FG labels N50,000 child support scheme as fake

The Federal Government has officially denounced as fake an online child support scheme titled “Federal Government’s N50,000 Child Support Fund for all Nigerian”.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, cautioned Nigerians against falling victim to the scam and affirmed that security agents are actively investigating to expose those responsible.

In a statement issued on Sunday, by her media aide, Rasheed Zubair,  Edu emphasized the fraudulent nature of the scheme and urged the public to disregard the associated link.

The statement clarified that all social intervention schemes from the Ministry are well-documented, publicized through official channels, and do not include the alleged “Child Support Scheme.”

The statement read: “The general public is hereby alerted that undesirable elements whose sole agenda is to mislead and defraud unsuspecting Nigerians are behind the fake scheme advertisement and the link.

While security agents have swung into action to unmask the unpatriotic elements behind the intended scam, Nigerians are advised to ignore the link to avoid being defrauded of their hard-earned money.”

This development underscores the importance of vigilance and skepticism when encountering online schemes, as the government emphasizes its commitment to protecting citizens from fraudulent activities.
