The Independent National Electoral Commission , INEC, has swiftly dispelled a circulating report alleging the withdrawal of passwords for uploading election results from Local Government Supervisors in Imo State.
Labeling the report as fake news, the electoral body refuted the claim, emphasizing that the passwords remain securely intact for designated officials in line with established procedures.
In a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, the commission clarified that the responsibility for result upload lies with Presiding Officers, not Assistant Presiding Officers (APO1s).
The statement cautioned the public against giving credence to such unfounded insinuations, acknowledging that similar misinformation attempts might arise before, during, and after the elections.
As the nation navigates the delicate terrain of electoral processes, INEC strives to maintain transparency and accuracy, urging citizens to remain vigilant against the proliferation of misleading information.
The battleground of information and disinformation continues to shape the narrative surrounding elections, highlighting the need for the electorate to rely on official sources for accurate updates.
