The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun has appointed CP Olatunji Disu, as the new Commissioner of Police, CP, for Rivers Command in order to ensure efficiency in the policing system across the State.
It was learnt that Disu’s appointments were contained in a Police signal already dispatched indicating that the senior police officers’ redeployments were with immediate effects.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun has appointed CP Olatunji Disu as the new Commissioner of Police ,CP, for Rivers Command to enhance efficiency in the policing system across the state.
CP Disu, who was the IGP’s Principal Staff Officer before the appointment, will oversee the Rivers police command to ensure effective policing in the state.
According to the IGP, Disu was chosen to supervise the Rivers police command in order to guarantee the effectiveness of the state’s policing system. Prior to the most recent appointment, Disu served as his Principal Staff Officer, or PSO.
This is part of the ongoing measures to strengthen security, tackle violent crimes, and enhance coordination of policing operations in Nigeria.
Other CPs were also appointed and redeployed to different State commands, including CP George Chuku for BNS Command, CP Ahmed Tijani for Jigawa Command, CP Dan Shawulu for Niger Command, CP Usman Hayatu for GBS Command, CP Danjuma Aboki for IMS Command, and CP Isyaku Muhammed for OSS Command.
The IGP charged the newly appointed CPs to demonstrate their professional competence in their new roles.
CP Disu, known for his effective leadership, has a background in various police departments, extensive experience, and a strong academic background. His appointment comes after demands for the redeployment of the previous Commissioner of Police in Rivers State due to recent incidents.
CP Disu has a history of managing and transforming various police units and has undergone extensive training both in Nigeria and abroad.
