Fed Govt starts housing project for displaced in Benue

Federal Government on Thursday began the the construction of cluster settlements for internally displaced persons in Benue State.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, laid the foundation for the cluster settlement at Mbagwen in Makurdi Local Government Area. The initiative aims to resettle displaced persons and provide them with decent housing and living conditions.

Dr. Edu emphasized President Tinubu’s commitment to addressing the plight of those who have been displaced from their ancestral homes. She assured the people of Benue State that the construction of the cluster settlements is the beginning of fulfilling the promise to return them home.

The Minister highlighted the importance of restoring dignity to the affected individuals by enabling them to build their homes and contribute to food production for the nation.

Governor Hyacinth Alia expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for keeping the pledge to return the displaced people to their ancestral homes.

He acknowledged the ongoing attacks on the people since 2010 and commended the government’s efforts to provide a sustainable solution to the displacement crisis.

The Governor urged the affected individuals to be patient with the government as it works towards creating a conducive environment for their return and resettlement.
