Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the implementation of compensation awards of N25,000 for employees and N15,000 for retirees in the state.
This decision will result in an additional N2.2 billion being added to the state’s payroll bill for a six-month payment period.

This development follows the inauguration of an 11-member ad-hoc inter-ministerial committee by the governor four weeks ago, tasked with addressing the demands of labor unions in the state.

The committee, led by Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, the secretary to the State government, is tasked with creating a report on how to carry out the demands of the workers.
Governor Makinde’s action is viewed as a step in the right direction toward improving the welfare of State employees.
