The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos, on Friday, nullified the ruling of the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, which removed Rep Amobi Ogah of the Labour Party, LP, as the lawmaker representing Isikwuato Umunneochi Federal Constituency in Abia State.
Hon. Ogah contested and won with a large margin for the Federal House of Representatives seat for Isikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency.
But, the tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to immediately withdraw the certificate of return issued to Ogah and re-issue same to Nkiruka Onyejeocha of the All Progressives Congress.
Dissatisfied with the judgement of the Tribunal, hence the resolve to approach the Appellate Court.
However, the Apex court on Friday, ruled that the appeal of the Labour Party candidate was meritorious and allowed same, thereby setting aside the ruling of the lower court.
