Early on Saturday morning, the well-liked Alaba Lawson Group of Schools, Abeokuta, lost its founder.
AbdulRahman Maku, the Executive Secretary of the Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, verified the development in a statement.
“We regret to announce the demise of Iyalode Alaba Lawson, MFR, JP, Iyalode of Yorubaland, past President of NACCIMA, ABEOCCIMA Matron, and Chairman, Board of Trustees. Her passing occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 28, 2023,” the statement reads. The family will later announce the burial plans. May Iyalode’s soul rest in peace, O God Almighty.
Lawson, a Nigerian business tycoon, entrepreneur, scholar, and supporter of women’s empowerment, was born on January 18, 1951.
She was until her death the Iyalode of Egbaland and Chairman of Chairman Board of Trustees of ABEOCCIMA.
