The Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso, on Wednesday,in a riveting turn of events, overturned the appointment of the new Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye.
The state government had officially declared Redeemed Pastor Olaoye as the new Soun and crowned him king on September 8, 2023, as previously reported by Credible News.

Following a suit filed by one of the contestants, Kabir Laoye, the court ordered the Oyo State government to conduct a new selection process for the next Soun.
In his suit, Laoye argued that Olaoye was ineligible to be appointed as Soun and that his appointment was thus illegal.
The court agreed with Laoye and declared Olaoye’s appointment null and void.
The court also ordered the government not to fill the position until it issued its decision.
On September 8, 2023, the Oyo State government named Olaoye as the new Soun, and he was sworn in on the same day.
