In Aba, Abia state, a two-year-old baby named David Etim Udo has died from his injuries after he fell from the third floor of a school building.
Udo was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later confirmed dead. The incident occurred at Emerald International School, a private institution with multiple sections on the same premises.
The Abia State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Maureen Chinaka, verified the unfortunate event to The Nation. She stated, “On the evening of October 17, 2023, around 2000hrs, Mr. Jacob Etim Udo, who resides on Ugwumba Street, Aba, came to the Ndiegoro Divisional Headquarters in the company of two individuals. They reported the heartbreaking news of his son David’s tragic accident.”
“David, a pupil of Emerald International School located by Crystal Park Road, Aba, was reported to have fallen from a school building, leading to his untimely demise.
“David was swiftly rushed to the hospital, but despite the best efforts of medical personnel, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.”
The child’s body has been retrieved for an autopsy as part of our ongoing probe. The case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department ,SCID, for a comprehensive and discreet inquiry into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
