Security agencies seal PDP secretariat in Ondo

The Secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party in Akure, Ondo State, has been sealed by security agencies ahead of today’s protest against the continued absence of the State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, after his return from medical vacation abroad.

It was reported that the operatives of the Nigerian Police and the Department of State Security, DSS, sealed the secretariat to abort the protest.

As a result of fear of possible harassment, members of staff of the party did not enter the secretariat to resume work.

A party source disclosed that the security operatives arrived at the party secretariat around 7 am this morning.

He said: “Police and DSS officers have sealed up our party Secretariat to prevent a peaceful protest by PDP youths demanding Akeredolu’s whereabouts after being absent from the State since April 2023”.

Recall that the ruling All Progressive Congress in the state and the opposition People’s Democratic Party have traded words over alleged plans to instigate a crisis following the continued absence of Governor Akeredolu in the State, after his return from medical vacation abroad.
