Zamfara Assembly moves against online TV for fake news

Zamfara State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging the Attorney General, Mr Sani Abdulaziz to institute legal action against a Gusau-based online television.

This followed the adoption of a motion by the Majority Leader, Alhaji Bello Mazawaje  urging the house to take legal action against the online station for spreading fake news.

The majority whip, Alhaji Rilwanu Marafa, PDP-Anka Constituency, urged the house to take the matter seriously because its reputation was at stake.

After deliberations, the lawmakers unanimously adopted the motion, calling for legal action against the station.

Credible News reports that an online television station had transmitted an audio clip insinuating bribery allegations against the lawmakers.

The station alleged that former Gov. Abdul’aziz Yari bribed the lawmakers with N100 million. Insinuating bribery allegations against the lawmakers.
