Akeredolu extends medical leave, writes Legislature

From his sick bed abroad, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu as sent an official communication to the State House of Assembly to extend his medical leave.

Credible News recalls that on his doctor’s advice, Governor Akeredolu had written to the state legislature in line with constitutional provisions to proceed on medical leave. He promptly ceded  instruments of power to his deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Akeredolu has again forwarded a letter of extension of medical leave to the Ondo State House of Assembly.

Receiving the letter on behalf of other lawmakers, on Monday, the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji said the Governor’s action was in line with Section 190 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria ( as amended).

The letter mandates Akeredolu’s deputy, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa to act as governor until further developments.

It would be recalled that in the Governor’s letter of 5th June, 2023, he had informed  the lawmakers that he was proceeding on medical leave and was expected to resume on 6th July, 2023.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt.Hon Olamide Oladiji, who thanked God for the speedy recovery of the governor, expressed optimism that he would soon resume his duty.
