*Osinbajo’s spokesman faults list of affected aides
The Office of the Vice President has faulted the list of names and portfolios of some of the aides of the Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who were allegedly sacked on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande said the list of those sacked trending in the media was not genuine.
Mr. Akande’s statement which serves as an official confirmation of the incident has yet added another twist to the controversies and uneasy silence trailing the alleged retrenchment of 35 aides in the office of the Vice President.
He faulted the list as a footnote in one of his tweets on Thursday, saying “a list circulating in the media on the so-called sacked ‘presidential aides’ is not genuine and ought to be ignored.”
He however did not confirm how many of his aides have been sacked. The Spokesman to the Vice President did not give further details on the issue.
Mr. Akande, on behalf of his boss, also apologised to a photojournalist, Mr. Abayomi Adeshida who was reportedly manhandled by security aides attached to Osinbajo’s office.
His tweets on the scuffle reads: “The needless scuffle between a villa accredited photographer, Mr. Adeshida and one of our security aides earlier today has since been resolved. Incident is regretted and I have apologized to him for any embarrassment caused.”
