CUSTOMS raise the alarm on imported rice

by CredibleNews

The Nigeria Customs Service has warned  Nigerians  on the dangers of consuming foreign rice because it is poisonous.

The Comptroller-General, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) gave the advice at a news conference in Abuja where he disclosed that the Federal Government has not issued any license for the importation of rice.

He emphasised that any foreign rice seen on the market now must have been smuggled.

He said that most imported rice are poisonous  having been kept in silos for upwards of five years. “A chemical must have been added to sustain its freshness and that chemical is harmful,” he cautioned.
