A nine-member committee to advise Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on the creation of Local Governments Development Authority, LCDAs, will begin work soon.
Former president, Nigerian Bar Association, Barrister Lanke Odogiyan will head the panel expected to recommend additions to the 18 local councils in the state. Akeredolu believes that the LCDAs would fast track development and bring government closer to the grassroots as first experimented in Lagos by former governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during a thank you tour to Irele in Irele Local Government, the governor said the committee would accept memoranda from communities seeking Local Government or LCDA status.
The chairman, caretaker committee of lrele Council, Mr. Odimayo Gbadebo expressed concern over the Obaship crisis in the town and pleaded with the governor to facilitate the process of appointing a new traditional ruler for the town.
Gbadebo lauded the completion of the road linking lrele with Okitipupa and other neighbouring council areas of the town by the state government.
