All roads lead to Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg this weekend where the Nigerian Army will receive recognition in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.
The forum, attracting no fewer than 250 leading policy makers across Africa, is the Exclusive Session of the 7th Edition of the African Leadership Magazine Persons of the Year where the Nigerian Army will make a presentation on security and development issues impacting the continent.
Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, in a statement, disclosed that the
Event will examine three main issues namely, Security, Investment and Job creation. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, among other awardees, will receive the Special African Leadership Commendation Award for his efforts in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity, as conveyed in a letter jointly issued by Ambassador Joe Beasley, the Chair of the African Leadership Magazine Advisory Board and the Publisher/Chief Executive Officer of the magazine Doctor Ken Giami.
The African Leadership Magazine’s Persons of the Year annual Award is given to African leaders who distinguished themselves in the professional, business or administrative endeavours and blazed trail in the year under review.
Other winners in different categories include, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Doctor Abiy Ahmed Ali, Nigeria’s Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, the owner of Oriental Energy, Alhaji Muhammad Indimi, President of Tanzania, Mr John Pombe Magafuli, the Chairman of Heirs Holdings and philanthropist, Mr Tony Elumelu and Botswana’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo. cked0 toc
