Coalition of United Peoples Political Parties (CUPP) has lauded the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Bichi for issuing a disclaimer against his predecessor, Lawal Daura for extortion and impersonation.
CUPP’s Spokesperson, Ikenga Ugochiyere in a statement today said the parties are aware of the purported plan by Daura and other bigwigs in Aso Rock to sack the Director-General of DSS, Yusuf Bichi for his refusal to arrest opposition leaders and partake in the monies meant for DSS operations and other illegalities.
CUPP also claimed that Daura collected over N5 billion in bribes from desperate politicians, adding that all DSS directors who have been taking directives from the former DG should be sacked with immediate effect.
“We are aware of Daura’s under table dealings with members of the Aso Rock cabal aimed at ensuring that Bichi is sacked for refusing to embark on the mass arrest of opposition leaders and sharing of money meant for DSS operations.
“We are also aware that the former DG used the bribes that he collected from desperate politicians to compromise some staff and run a parallel security outfit.
Therefore, we are calling for the sack of all those who have been taking instructions from the disgraced former DG.
‘‘The director-general has shown that he has the capacity to stand on the right path. We therefore demand that the secret police should arrest Daura and charge him for extortion and impersonation,’’ he said.
